The Family

Murteira Trindade are the surnames reflected in the new generation of the family, since 2010.

The Trindades are the surname of five generations who produced wine in the municipalities of Portalegre and Marvão and who opened their doors to the people of Portalegre and other visitors, for moments of socialising and tasting at the long-lost Adega do Manuel Trindade, first located in Rua do Cano, in the city of Portalegre, and later at Quinta da Benfica.

The symbiosis between the teachings and history of the past and the innovations of the present will be Casa Murteira & Trindade's legacy to future generations.

There are traditions that accompany us and that arose long before us. We respect and preserve them because, as life is a daily metamorphosis, it is also synonymous with evolution, learning and valuing our places.

There are traditions that accompany us and that arose long before us. We respect and preserve them because, as life is a daily metamorphosis, it is also synonymous with evolution, learning and valuing our places.

We are grape and wine producers who manage what nature gives us. We have the privilege of doing what we love and producing what we know best on a daily basis.

We are a family-run wine project in the Alentejo, the fruit of our ancestors' knowledge, with deep roots in the village of Reguengo, in the municipality of Portalegre, in the heart of the Serra de São Mamede.

Reflection, experience and the desire to do more and better have brought us this far. And we have our eyes set on the future, and the certainty that the path only makes sense in our places, close to the land, producing a distinctive range of high altitude wines that showcase the best of Portalegre, the Alentejo and Portugal.

The beginning and the future are in nature, in what it gives us, and in the delight of a glass of wine.

Activity Areas

Learning, experience, maturity and the desire to always do better have brought us to this point.

Casa Murteira & Trindade's main areas of activity are viticulture and the production of pure line white merino sheep.

Livestock

White merino sheep appear on our farms as ‘four-legged implements’ designed to control spontaneous vegetation, both in the vineyard during the vegetative rest period and on neighbouring plots.

The flocks play a decisive role in maintaining the farm's rural buildings, preventing forest fires, stimulating the natural fertilisation of the soil, increasing its aeration and, consequently, its biodiversity.

Viticulture

Wine is made in the vineyard and the path to its realisation will always be alongside nature.

Realising that the great challenge is to bring the best fruit from the vine to the winery, we rigorously monitor our vineyards, as we want to offer our customers high-altitude wines that are representative of the Portalegre and Alentejo regions.

Our vineyards are located in the Serra de São Mamede Natural Park, where nature follows its cycle and lives at its own pace.
